This book addresses the conflict between the Twelve Steps of Recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and the Nicene Creed of the Christian Church concerning the required Spiritual beliefs and practices that each organization expects its members to follow.  Many addicts in Recovery experience confusion and frustration while attempting to practice the Spiritual teachings of both organizations in their daily lives.  By examining the history of Spirituality and its evolution in both AA and the Christian Church, the differences in how Spirituality is taught and practiced become strikingly apparent.  Three important “Conflicts” for the addict in Recovery are defined and discussed that result directly from the polarized views of Spirituality as professed by each organization.   These conflicts have lead many addicts to abandon the Christian Church and use AA as the sole Spiritual essence in their lives.  Those in conflict, who remain in both institutions, frequently find an inability to identify their own inherent Spirituality and the peace and love that exist within them.  By learning more about the very first Christians, before there was a Creed or a New Testament, one comes to appreciate that 

their beliefs and practices resonate well the Twelve Step Recovery programs of today.  Using this knowledge, the addict in Spiritual conflict, can choose to understand and use the Spiritual gifts offered by each institution as a fulfilling part of their Spiritual journey.
